Around October 24th to 28th, 2023, it is Autumn-SOKO (Frost falls)- 52nd KOU “First frost”. It’s SOKO (Frost falls) in the 24 seasons (major divisions).
It’s been quite cold in the mornings lately, but it’s still early for frost. Instead, river fog is often present at this time of year. When fog hovers near the ground, it becomes difficult to see around.
In OSHIMADA-MACHI, NAGANO City, there is the KAWANAKAJIMA Battlefield (HACHIMANPARA), where the famous warlords Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen fought fierce battles as rivals.
On the night of September 9, EIROKU-period 4th (around October 21, 1561 according to the current calendar), Kenshin noticed Takeda Shingen preparing for battle at KAIZU Castle. Kenshin then led his army from his base at Mt. SAIZYOZAN, hiding in the thick fog crossed CHIKUMA River through the AMEMIYA-no-WATASHI, and built a camp at HACHIMANPARA for battle. On the morning of September 10th, the Takeda army rushed towards HACHIMANPARA in the fog. When the fog finally cleared, Uesugi’s large army appeared in front of Takeda Shingen.
There should be KAIZU Castle on the lower right and AMENOMIYA-no-WATASHI on the left, but the fog hides everything.
