November 27th-December 1st is Winter-SHOSETSU (Lesser snow)-59th KOU “North wind blows the leaves from the trees.”

The first winter wind of the year was observed on 13th in Tokyo area. I wonder if there was the report in the HOKUSHIN are ???

Anyway, leaves of HANAMIZUKI trees (Dogwood) in my garden were entirely blown away and also no more red berries on them. Until recently, ONAGA birds (Azure-winged Magpie) used to come to pick them every morning. The vegetables have almost been harvested, and now we are busy preserving them for the winter. Root vegetables such as NINJIN (carrot) and small DAIKON (Japanese radish) can be preserved by covering them with soil. HAKUSAI (Chinese cabbage) lasts for over two months just by wrapping newspapers and leaving on a balcony.
