January 10th-15th, 2024 is Winter-Shokan (lesser cold)-68th KOU “Springs thaw.”
On the 8th, when it snowed (apparently the first snow of the season), I went to URIWARISHOUZU.
The name comes from the legend that a melon (URI) soaked in this clear water (SHOUZU) was so cold that it would break (WARI).
Because of the cold snow (temperature -0.4℃)??? The water felt slightly lukewarm. Is Spring just around the corner as the KOU tells as “Springs thaw”?
No, no, we’re going to have the coldest season called “DAIKAN” from now on. Be careful of the cold!
URIWARISHOUZU is located on a slightly higher than the town. I was a little tired. So as a reward, I bought “SAKA-MANJU (bean-paste bun)” at a WAGASHI sweet shop “TSURUYA” which is close to ZENKOJI Temple and took home 😀
